Thank you Shane.  The D-104 is my favorite mic.  I grew up with them and modified some to work like you described.  Good luck and thank you.  My favorite is the Golden Eagle from 1976.  My Dad got it for a Robyn T123B radio in 1976.  I'm looking at the Rig and the mic right now.  Thanks again Shane.

Got so many unsolicited great audio reports with the hand mic that came with my 7300 that I just moved the element over to an old d104 with some family provenance that I wanted to have working in my shack and even though I'm about a foot away from it and experts have told me that's too far away I tend to talk loud and I still get great audio reports so my element must have forgot to read the specs:) kind of like my antennas sometimes!
For my vintage gear I run d104 s.  No pre amp.

Have to agree...stock mic works as well as any and costs nothing extra. Can't get any cheaper.

I was very fond of my Heil HM-10 when I ran Yaesu but, no matter what Bob might say, dynamics are not good partners with ICOM radios - even the new models. The ICOM stock mic for the 7300 is hard to fault - at least in audio terms. Personally, I like a desk mic, so I forked out the preposterously high price for an ICOM SM-50 and I'm extremely pleased with it - apart from the price!

It’s what’s used to communicate in 2021, decades after the World abandoned Morse Code and that key thingy.

Really now?

Funny how much CW activity there is during a CW contest, or when a semi-rare DX station comes up on frequency.

Funny how the ARRL still sends bulletins and code practice as well as qualifying runs.

Even you could upgrade now.

You may want to rethink your comment.

Oh, we have an internet "tough guy."

Your dumb ass can't even take, let alone pass, a simple multiple choice test.  dit dit

I'm surprised you even know what "dit - dit" is.  Or did you have to ask someone?
