Yaesu FT-1802 repeater issues
« on: December 31, 2020, 01:09:56 PM »

Cushcraft Ringo Ranger Vertical Antenna mounted to a travel trailer (temporarily living situation)

Yaesu FT-1802 and a SEC 1212 PS...

1. Nearest repeater is 10+ miles, and there are hills.
2. Display shows (to the right of the frequency)  INT  above VFO   Not able to determine if thats an issue by reading the manual.

**  I can not receive or transmit..  Only an occasional garbled voices, once every 24 hours +/-

Any help appreciated, would love to be able to contact the outside world.

I was able to transmit, was told it was clear, however I could barely make out the garbled transmission.  What causes receive issues when able to transmit?

The receive on my 1802 got so bad that I thought I had cut/pinched the coax somewhere in my truck.
Stations that were once full-scale on the meter were now down to maybe S2-S3. I did a Google search
and ended-up discovering the filters in the radio went bad. I found a guy who replaced them and all
is well now. Perhaps this is your issue as well?

Try putting the radio in narrow mode and see if it works.
If it does, then it's the filters.
