Thetis seems to need protocol 2 loaded into the radio, but there is not a lot of info on how to do that.
You really have to dig a bit for info about fringe products...

I got my mac mini and checked it out last night, and ordered a new display with an HDMI input.
Its amazing how quickly things go obsolete in the computer world...

Protocol 2 is not needed for new release of Thetis.  Works with protocol one just fine.

That's what gives it Hermes Lite capabilities.

What improvements does Thetis bring to the table?

I downloaded the Thetis v2.8.11 and it installed without issue. In launching it, it seams like the broadcast band is not filtered out and I get a flashing ADC1 Overload. Is there a setup how to that I can be pointed to?

There is a setup video on utube, just google it.
Setup of the filters should be the same on any program.

On Windows 10 it sucks it up like a spaghetti noodle but I think I missed something. PowerSDR works fine but the latest Thetis does not inspire confidence. I'll ask on the Google user group.

Nice video on PowerSDR and I have it working. I used that program for my Flex 3000 and my Anan 8000. I was trying to get Thetis working like PowerSDR.
I did post the question to the Google Groups Hermes-Lite and started a new thread for it.

Does Thetis not have a menu for the same things?

No Hermes control tab?

Well I was able to fat finger it and make it work on receive. I'll work on transmit another day.

Tested the CW aspect of this rig.
10? year old Dell optiplex 790 small form factor I5 8 gb windows 7 computer directly connected to the Hermes.
Default buffers , 250 ms delay between key closure and rf/sidetone out.
Buffers set low (audio and filters, filters set to low latency) no detectable delay, real time.
Things ran fine set that way, the computer is doing nothing else.

Its not a rocket ship of a computer.

With a faster computer, you could likely run it with much higher buffer settings.

For some reason, on 80 meters where I tried it, I could only get 2 watts out.
I did set it up for max power output.

I will have to try it on my I7 computer...

The HL2 AD9866 DAC has a 15 step Tx gain setting. Check that your software is sending the correct Tx drive level to the HL2.  Low Tx output is sometimes an indication of incorrect filter settings in your software for the HL2.  Check the filter configuration panel.

There is some very odd interaction between ptt enable, ps-a enable and duplex button.

If I click disable ptt, enable duplex and enable ps-a, I get 4 watts out, but the swr meter does not work, nor does the power output.

It does work with some other option setup selected, or the MOX button, but then I get no sidetone.

Some odd interaction because its a Hermes 2 I guess and kind of new?

If the particular software you’re trying can’t play a CW sidetone, try keying with a sidetone generator on your key or in your keyer.

My understanding is that in order to simplify the design and lower the cost for remote operation, the standard build of the Hermes Lite 2 does not include any sidetone or audio output capability.  Instead, it depends on the software on your SDR computer or in your keyer to produce any CW audio sidetone.  Some older SDR software may be configured for local operation of earlier HPSDR hardware designs that included audio circuitry.
