which noise eliminator for flex radio 6600 m
« on: January 09, 2021, 08:50:06 AM »

Hello , I have  a flex radio 6600M and no matter how I set it I still get band noise.  My new yasesu ft dx10 is actually quieter that my flex . so my question is I want to try a noise eliminator like wimo, mfj or another .   I would like to know if there is anyone who has used one on there flex with good results .  thanks   John kb2huk

I've had pretty good luck with the Timewave ANC-4.

From you posting are you referring receiver noise floor or band noise?

If you put in a referencing signal to each radio is the audio level the same on both units? Most newer radio  have noise floor=r better than -130 dBm. This is 20 dB better than the average noise floor presented from the antenna.

I paid $69 for m WIMO interference cancellation unit. The unit works very well but you must have the sense antenna away from your communications radio with at least 50 feet for the best results. Adjusting the reference/radio antenna gain and the phase adjustment you can reduce the local interference by over 45 dB.

This is the same unit DX Engineering sells for $169. The direct shipment from China takes 6 weeks.

The ANC-4 reduces my general atmospheric and/or local noise by approximately two S-units.  As with most of these noise reduction devices much depends on the type of Noise Antenna used and some experimentation may be necessary in this regard.  Several manufacturers make these devices.  I'd like to see QST do a comparison of the most popular models.
