I use a considerable number of the 50 amp Anderson plugs, most are of Chinese origin and to be honest i find them quite suitable for my purposes.

The main difference I find and it vary's from supplier (Chinese) is the brightness and or metal of the pins, using needle nose pliers I find i always achieve a good lock into the housing, the real problem is removing a pin , there is a trick to success other than busting open the housing.

A real benefit is the availability of differing colors that will only interface with like color and I have a crimper set (again Chinese) that suits 3  of the differing size connector pins available.
These differing colors discriminate against incorrect connection to another use ie a 24 vdc volt circuit vs 12 vdc or light blue for my travel trailer compressor fridge circuit from the tow vehicle vs red for the electric brake  emergency overide battery from the tow vehicle.

I buy packs of 4 or 10 in at least 5 differng colors ( grey, black, red, yellow, lt blue) and find them excellent value and performance.

I have also found that the colors are slightly different from 'real Andersons' yet appear to stand up well to the high UV here in sunny Australia.

I find at times some attitude towards Chinese products, based on emotive perspectives and although there are inferior products from China I've also experienced the same from US and European sources.
I also remember in the 60's the term  '*** crap' yet Japanese products are top line now and desirable.

I have some very fine Chinese made products on the property yet admit considerable disatisfaction with PRC C' party policy !

Just my take !

I agree with VK2NZA. Does the fact that a product is designed in the USA but manufactured in China make it counterfeit?

Then you do not use Anderson Power Poles.

The main difference I find and it vary's from supplier (Chinese) is the brightness and or metal of the pins,
That is certainly one big difference, APP uses silver plating, Chi-Coms do not. You get what you pay for.
