QST Jan 1985 there is a graph showing typical ground wave for various HF frequencies.  10 miles at 30 Mhz.

Wow! That is quite a chart from la-la land.

Probably they were using a ground mounted Solarcon Whiz Bang 8000 or a Tram-Sirio Godzilla 890...or maybe one those dual co-phaser antennas like the big boy truck jockeys...the ones that are clipped to mirrors are tilted forward to really fling duh signal down duh road.  Trucker ground wave. Ha!

um, it would not surprise me if the chart doesnt go back much further than 1985 -- to before 11 meters was taken from hams and given to citizens...

I like the idea of separate category.  Then maybe several of the posters here can find a home.  By the way, re QST Jan 1985 there is a graph showing typical ground wave for various HF frequencies.  10 miles at 30 Mhz.  Dad told me long ago not to argue with idiots.
K0TC=Vanity 10th area callsign purchased by an out of area 21st century Extree.

"10 miles at 30 Mhz."    Hee-haw.
That is of no use, just silliness.
That distance is easily covered via line of sight propagation using a fraction of the power....
and 3 to 4 times that via tropospheric scatter.

Some thing else many of the boys and girls do not understand is that there is no "skip".  There is no such thing.  The term comes from the strange laws of physics of the illegal "cb" world. (This statement will make some HAMcb types heads explode...even though 100% true).  Ha!

Now class to help you begin to learn just a little about propagation, at the elementary level...
Please go to wikipedia.org and read the very basic, beginners level article on "Ground wave propagation".

That can be like your home work assignment for tonight.
It will help you a lot to begin on learning one of the most simple, basic fundamentals of the Amateur Radio hobby.
Oh yes, Wikipedia is on the top of my list for reliable references(sarcasm)!
Talk about “silliness”...

Well, if your cancel culture masters forbid you from viewing wikipedia, try this instead:
https://www.electronics-notes.com/articles/antennas-propagation/ground-wave/basics-tutorial.php

Also, class, you might try to dig up some of the old posts/comments of Steve Katz WB2WIK/6 on eham and qrz.
He has tried, in the past, to educate HAMS on the fundamental basics and principles of ground wave propagation...and where and when it even exists to any extent.

Hey, RADIOPHONE, do some real research.  Check out the Radiocommunications Bureau of the ITU, "Recommended Propagation Curves for field strength," Recommendation ITU-R P.368.  Might be just a bit more authoritative than wikipedia.

The FCC STOLE the 11M ham band on 9/11/58 and gave it to CB.

Did WB2WIK invent WIKipedia or was that Al Gore?

Carl all you do is rant.  You have like 9000 rants on here.

Let me give you one advice lesson regarding ham radio.

Nothing you say on this website is going to change anything regarding ham radio and people younger than you are kinda over it.

It's 2021 Carl not 1958.

No.  It was invented by Efrem Zimbalist, Junior.
YOU, being a Special Agent, should know that.

The founder is long dead and times do change and any continuation requires adapting to the new conditions.

Getting rid of you is a prime goal based upon emails Ive received.

You are right times do change.

Getting rid of me is a prime goal based upon emails you have received?

We are not in middle school so I assume you are approaching senility.

K0TZ is a out of area Old Timey Vanity Callsign. The current holder was first licensed in 2016 as KM6BPA.
In this short time the licensee has applied for and held many, many, many different Out of Area Old Timey Vanity callsigns.  And applied for even a much greater number of them that were dismissed.

Class:
No need for ITU thingy he suggests.
The "wikipedia article" article is easy reading for any beginner to start with as a prepper in understanding basic level propagation characteristics and principles.

Hey RADIOPHONE, my call is not K0TC or K0TZ.  Might help if you look it up correctly.

Just for the record I have been continuously licensed since 1957 (age 13) and held the calls of KN0LMZ (novice, passed the code) and K0LMZ (general, advance, passed the code).  Upgraded to Extra in 2000.  Vanity for 18 years (only vanity call I have ever held).  Two QST articles by age 21.  Numerous other articles in QST, QEX, NCJ, and upcoming in the Feb 2021 issue of Electric Radio.  Graduate engineer, masters degree.

Care to compare?

Sorry, my mistake.

I apologize.

Must clean my glasses.

If you have a link handy for that "ITU thing", please post it.
I would like to see if it is basic enough to be a prepper to fit in with class.

Apology accepted.  Here is the 2007 update, latest I know of.  Select either Word or PDF.  Charts are a little busy.
