CALL SIGNS REQUIRED YOUR THOUGHTS?

This is Mike N2MG on the subject. 


Our founder, over 20 years ago, made it pretty clear about his wanting to allow non-hams to register as users of the site.
Like any decision, there are advantages and disadvantages but overall it's worked for us so far.

Personally, I believe a call sign should be REQUIRED for posting a comment.  A "read only" login with no call sign would be appropriate, again, in my opinion.  This would allow someone exploring the idea of getting their license the ability to get information to get them started.

I have always wondered why someone, who went through the testing process to gain their license(s), would not want to make that known when they are posting a comment. 

Again, my opinion, it would give the person commenting, much more credibility.

Just my $.02.

If someone is licensed it sounds reasonable to use your call sign. Some might prefer a level of being incognito for a number of reasons that are at least valid to them even if not to the community at large.  I don't think it's especially necessary or welcoming to potential new hams to restrict them to read only.

Doesn't seem like a big deal either way.

It may be a combination of failure to provide a call sign with acting the troll that upsets some users of the site.

Ad revenues increase when eHam can demonstrate large numbers of users.  Ever notice how you can check-in but there is no way to check-out.  It's just like Hotel California.
