Regardless of the line of thought, there will always be the doubters, the hopefuls and the middle of the roaders.
This is as it should be! It all depends on who or what is in command at the moment.

With those currently being put in places of importance, I wonder what the next step might be. Or will there be a "next step"? The answer? All we can do is wait and see. (And pray, if so inclined.) ... sigh ... (Again, no hard feelings)

1. It all depends on who or what is in command at the moment.

2.  I wonder what the next step might be...No hard feelings

1. Not in democracy. You're talking autocracy, top-down, hail to the leader. In a democracy,
it's, unfortunately, more complicated. Democracy is a horrible system of government, but the
other systems are much worse (Mark Twain?).

2. Political name-calling (socialist!) suggests the hardest of feelings, not to mention the hardest of heads.

Let's give it a year and in the meantime we'll just wait. Perhaps one of us will change his way of thinking after the "squad" has their chance at bat. But for now: Prosecution rests, with no hard feelings.

We'll just wait.

Some will wait to be told how to think and what to do.

Others will get involved to help make sure things move in a positive direction.
Helping others. Figuring out what is really going on.

What actually happens looks very different from in front of the TV than it does
where things actually happen.

I didn't post that to cause a political debate, online testing has nothing to do with politics.  I just thought it was good that they are able to implement it and it's working.  Like I said, so far it's working great and saving some of these clubs money and not to mention the time they spend setting up a testing site.

Just think how much time and money the clubs could save if a box top sent to the FCC could qualify for a license!! Perhaps that too will be considered as part of "the new norm". Now, there's something to consider!!

Charlie

On edit: Yes, Sheldon! That was "sarcasm".  ;D

Charlie you do know this is just a hobby right?  You went from political to sending box tops in to the FCC.  You are all over the place.  I was simply trying to explain how the testing is going.

I know. That was my final. And to some of us it is a love of labor which makes it a way of life, practically. A certain amount of personal pride goes out to every project completed. (Granted, there have been, and always will be, a project or two that will fall be the wayside. It's to be expected, but that won't be called a failure, but rather a lesson learned.)  :'( ;D

Stan, As is heard so many times on 40 CW, "TU".  ;D So many in the hobby never reach that plateau so cannot begin to relate. Sad. But life goes on.

The world of electronics is one that is never totally learned, but always teaching. Just as soon as one feels comfortable in his knowledge, something new is tried and "here we go again"! LOL Ya gotta love it and I do! It's many times exasperating, but many times fulfilling!  ;D

Anyone with $35 can be a ham. Just get a copy of the test question answers, take the test, pay $35, and you are an expert. No math or science skills required.

Is that from personal experience?

Judas Priest! Has our government gotten so desperate for money that it's charging for even that now? I hadn't heard of it. No wonder the tests are so easy to take and without a lick of intelligence of electronics necessary. How the mighty have fallen! I fear for our country. Perhaps my joking about the box top thing was prophetic. ...sigh ...
