Wait time for vanity call sign.
« on: February 01, 2021, 10:27:49 PM »

I put in for a vanity call sign.
I entered seven possible 2x2 choices, all of them "available now" according to research.
What is the expected wait time until I hear from the FCC?

I filed electronically.
As you might guess, I have very little patience, ha, ha!

I waited 3 weeks, had only one choice. My award came and I have been very happy with my choice. The call I chose had been available for over a year so I felt I had a good chance. I upgraded from Advanced to Extra 3 months later. I hope you are pleased with your new call.  73

You're going to get AD6AD. AA6AU and WA6AW are not available yet (WA6AW is an active call sign).

If you really want AA6AU, it will become available in a few weeks on 2/21/2021. You could cancel your current application and refile on 2/21/2021.

If memory serves me correctly, both my XYL and I requested vanity calls back in 2009 (different days) and they both took about 72 hours to receive out new calls.

From the amount of time being cited in these postings, I am wondering if there is a greater demand, now that the FCC is looking to start charging a fee.

Good luck with your request.  I have been pleased with my choice; it's a very nice flow on CW!!

Wondering how you knew which ones I was applying for!
Guess it's public record.
Anyway, I'd be happy with AD6AD.

I wanted AA6AU because I'm in California's gold country.
I wanted WA6AW for balanced layout and repeated letters.

It's not only public record but the AE7Q website presents all current relevant information in a very clear fashion. You can find out there which call signs are available and how to apply correctly for them. You can also discover there when your request has been fulfilled or, if not, why not (inappropriate timing, loss due to competing request(s) etc.).

as others have noted above, www.ae7q.com is the place to go for everything re: vanity callsigns;
Here is specifically what you asked for (source: http://www.ae7q.com/query/text/Vanity.php)
