I, as do many others, wish that our ranks would expand, not so much for the sake of numbers, but for the hopes of folks who might find an interest in experimenting, kit building, modifying, etc. I'd like to see the electronics part of hamming grow, but not with HT users that may never burn themselves on a soldering pencil, but with the inquisitive ones that can properly/try to repair their equipment and, in doing so, build up the good will of the general public.
In "my day" we had our share of hams that messed up the local TV programs, but the way hi-tech has progressed it's almost a thing of the past today. (Forgetting the multitude of appliances that create the noises we now call "normal".) We need those that want to pick up where we left off, as it were. Sans the TVI, RFI, etc. LOL
I would also appreciate seeing the code brought back, if only 5 WPM. That, in itself, would show the willingness of newbees, (like we all had "in my day",) to earn their tickets to the wonderland called Ham Radio.
I realize there are those that thoroughly enjoy hamming as it is, but this is only an old fogies dream and, according to the Good Book, you must forgive me. Hi
