Dog fence works on 10.65kHz. Will ham bands interfere?
« on: March 08, 2021, 11:41:16 AM »

I don't want to shock my dogs accidentally when I transmit.  Well, it might actually be funny, but my wife won't like it.

ETA, also wondering if this will be picked up on IC-7300 as interference.  Not on the air yet.  Soon.  Need to get tower up this weekend.

10 KiloHertz is an awful low frequency.  I cannot imagine any mutual connection to your ham radio equipment . .. .

Should' effect a thing. Your antenna is far more dangerous than the fence charger. The fence charger by design cannot deliver a lethal shock. Ever seen a ham put up a protective barrier around a ground mounted vertical as codes require? Nah!

Just don't wear the collar when you're on the air.

If you start barking you'll know there is a problem.

I think this is a shock collar on the dog, not an electrified fence.  Guessing there's a 10 khz signal radiating from the perimeter wire that's acting as the electric fence.

My bad. Still should not be a problem. Test it first. Put it on your leg and key up. Better yet around wifey's leg since she is concerned. .

I did that once because we had a bunch of youngsters in the neighborhood.  I added a sign announcing "DANGER!! 50,000 ohms".

Just use a "Woofing" filter. You should be OK.
