Care to elaborate, Mark?

And yet you justify allowing trolls to continue?

I also find the use of the term "guests" to be interesting. It would seem that "customers" is more fitting.

I would politely suggest it is time for the eHam team to give serious reconsideration to how the site is run. You are barking up the wrong tree. Take a look around you:

  • You are now averaging less than 100 visitors to the forums per day - most of them are the "regulars" like me
  • You have only 10 advertisers - that is a dribble of revenue to support the site
  • The site software is substandard to most Internet experiences
  • You endorse anonymous trolls that disrupt legitimate threads with totally unrelated rubbish

Well spoken, Glenn.

The first comment is one I cannot believe as this, to me, is home away from home. I've been logged into several forums and have left them all for this one. When one finds the best, one stops the search.

I have no knowledge of the second,

I've accepted the third and am satisfied,

The fourth one I whole heartedly agree with and it's the only complaint I have. I've "neglected" the two that can't seem to be able to find a comment that doesn't call for a harassing comment.  ::) When does it end? Going to a different forum is totally out of the question. (Unless I'm forced out by trolls, of course.)

It is a reference to how one conducts themself.

The vitriolic posts by a few drive visitors away from the forums.  No one is interested in such trolling.  I, for one, have gravitated to other platforms as a mainstay because of these few and now only occasionally look at the eHam forums.  Perhaps, mitigating bad behavior by blocking the chronic offenders for a period of time (a time out, if you will) would be a good first step to restoring posting decorum.  If one acts immaturely, one should be treated as such.

OUCH! ...you certainly didn't mince any words, but sadly it's all true.
The Eham motto seems to be: "love it or leave it". I wish they would do better, but it's clear that's not going to happen.
I'm not paying anything to support the site, so I'm not complaining anymore. Free does as free is.

Very well said Glenn.  If they would knock off a few trolls (permanently) I bet they could double site views and attendance.

I said "neglected" when I meant "blocked".

On edit: Why in the world would you "log out"? I wouldn't think of it!

Well said and concurred. I know I have significantly backed off on my forum visits. There is enough troll perpetrated vitriol elsewhere on the web. I would like to think our mutual hobby and this website could be a place of refuge.

There are a few people here who really try to help others...W9IQ, K0UA, & WB6BYU to name 3, yet there are others, with callsigns, that consistently drag posts off topic. It's not necessarily people without callsigns/anonymous that cause problems.

Overall, eHam needs to be a more welcoming forum where people are not afraid to post questions, and not be afraid of the responses. Whether they have a callsign or not.

The bickering and name calling is getting out of hand.

Sounds like you need to be taught a lesson what the difference between a Customer and Guest are when they leave and take their money with leave.

The bickering is a result of allowing silly old fools called Elmers who give horrible dangerous advise with contempt for safety and modern operating practices. Do you not realize you can be held liable if someone comes here and gets bad dangerous advise.

I'm afraid I fall into that category and I'm sorry. I'll try to start a new thread if I find something to say that's "off topic".

Your old format had nice articles. Up loading an artical now and positing pictures is a real PITA.

Why not just accept articles in Microsoft Word format. more quality articles will increase site visits and up your advertising revenue, marketing 101.

A while back, I was restricted from posting for a week because I accidentally posted twice. With this attitude it is a wonder anyone returns to the site. Yet trolls go unchecked.

I have also noticed postings from new hams that want the older hams to do all their research for a new or used  product. This is just plane lazy. Postings such as what as, " the best amp for me to buy", with out qualifications, is just a technical troll.
