Still have no logical explanation on that. Yet there they are, pounding away on their keyboards. Hi Hi

There might have been even more if it had been a different radio ::)

Controversy creates bandwidth. Sweet, billable bandwidth for the site advertisers. It's a phenomenon that's by no means limited to Eham but when you allow too much noise to creep into the signal, I can tell you the end result will be exactly the same as it is (and was) on many other forums - some of which are now 404.

I thought by the looks of the owner's comments that it was the very top of the line when it came to portable and shack usage.

A great bit out of financial sight for me, but then I'm perfectly satisfied with DC receivers, so it doesn't matter.

Perhaps if I were just starting out I might discover I had to have top of the line or go blind, but, alas, that's not the case today. <Hidden Text> I know you wouldn't dear! I know![/color]<End Text> LOL

I have a question;
Why are you researching this? who cares?
I don't think the site owners even care!
Rome used rule Europe, but it no longer does...etc, etc..

Charlie: That was a tongue in cheek comment. Hence the "rolling eyes". On the slightly serious side am a knob and switch kind of guy. The compromise for me was a Yeasu 3k. It is REALLY great and lots less money. Way more radio than I will ever need but what the heck. Sorry I sold the TS450sat, very limited menus , even though the 3k is much, much quieter on receive and all in all lots more radio. Would like to have both. 73's David

EU: I just realized that that's one heck of a line up and wondered what the cause was since it's nowhere near that today. I thought perhaps some kind of contest or something of the sort. (And NO! I don't want to hear the "lack of maintenance" issue blamed again.)
I guess, like every experimenter, I'm just naturally inquisitive.

Charlie, I think it was you who said that Eham was a way of life for you.
I'm beginning to see what you meant by that!  :o ::)

This forum reminds me of some faded old corner bar with tape on the bar stools and everyone at the bar turns and stares when a stranger walks in.
( the bartender lives in the back room)

Or a greasy spoon where a group gathers everyday for coffee and talking like they can solve the worlds problems.

I don't understand. I only meant that I find comfort in the forum because of the "brotherhood" feeling that seems to be gotten from the questions and their answers.

Of course there's the troll or two, but that's to be found in any group, be it professional, religious, neighborly, etc.

Come to think of it, perhaps you were referring to the TV show, "Cheers"? Then, I whole heartedly agree.

I visit the forum daily and find peace, humor and friendship. What more can one ask from life?

Am I wrong in some way? Have I struck a bad cord with someone without realizing it? Should I be continuing my search for a "home away from home"? I'm confused. The very last thing I desire is to be sowing seeds of discord in the group. That's not my intent here, but rather to give and receive help and humor when possible.

I was only musing why you would research the online activity of this site. I bet the owners don't even do that! ( but they should).

The sign on the bar is pealing and hard to read. Most of the neon stopped working years ago. a few neon tubes are barely working, seemingly flashing a warning to stay away.
Inside, the bar is dirty and dingy, the beer is flat, the glasses aren't clean, but nobody gives a damn.

Just like that faded , beat up  old corner bar, this forum is not a good place to spend a lot of your time.
The trolls are analogous to the nasty drunks at the dive bar. The bartender is too drunk and/or burned out to toss them.
The pettiness and gloom will infect you.
