yes, certification and verification differ.  I had a re-look at FCC OET bulletin 62.   The tuner may need certification if it is considered to be a peripheral to a computer, in this case a Flex Radio transceiver (particularly the ones without a front panel that require an external pc), depending on how it is interpreted wrt the radio/pc/amp/tuner setup.

But that wasn't the point.  You guys were on the wrong track and shooting arrows at each other in the process.  The tuner more than likely needs to be evaluated to Part 47 because it has a digital processor, not to Part 97.

I assumed incorrectly when I seen the word Tuner meant what it said, no transmitter involved. Then Glen stuck his foot in his mouth pounding his elitist chest.

The statements that started the discussion revolved around the term "approval" by Frank. Then Dereck got lost as to what a tuner is and decided to seek cover through deflection.

So in any case, no approval from the FCC is needed. I am sure you are now "red faced" - in a reciprocal sense...

Elitist snob? This from the guy that puts down hams at every opportunity?

How true.

Then he gets posts locked so nobody can respond.

Plus the "moderators" dont have the stones to discipline him. They wont remove posts either since its a ding to their ad income, their "excuse" is that it preserves a history.

FYI, here is a link for specifications for the Flex Radio Tuner Genius XL:
https://www.flexradio.com/documentation/tuner-genius-xl-spec-sheet/

Like the Flex Radio Power Genius XL, the Tuner Genius XL is designed and manufactured by 4O3A in collaboration with Flex Radio.

The Flex spec sheet for this tuner includes the following statement:

"This device has not been authorized by the rules of the
FCC. This device is not, and may not, be offered for sale
or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained."

Say what??
