Perseus Troubles?
« on: March 16, 2021, 10:23:55 AM »

My PC laptop died.  In the process of searching for a new one I found this quote on the Perseus website. ", is simple to use and runs under Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Seven and Windows 8 (both 32 and 64 bit)."

Well, they don't sell PC's with those old systems any more...

I have the installation CD but will a new PC without the above operating systems run my Perseus? Heck, new PC's don't even have CD drives - I'll have to buy/borrow one just to install the software..

Further reading on the Perseus site reveals no new information or anything else post 2018.  Has Perseus gone under?

Thanks for any insight.....

Hi Dave,

I've had a Perseus for over a decade. Nico (developer) is not as active on the product as he once was. However, you can join this group to get most all of your issues regarding more recent driver source(s) and the like:

Thanks Frank.  Am a member there.  Would my Perseus have any re-sale value?  I've not been using it much as my interests have shifted to TV/FM DX-ing.  I'm investigating a couple of newer and cheaper options for an SDR which get into VHF and even above.  (You will see the thread here shortly....)   The Perseus was very expensive - nearly $1000 CDN when i bought it.... Is there a possibility of getting much back?

Thanks, Dave

Perseus runs fine under Windows 10, 64 bit. The drivers and software are on the Microtelecom site.

Dave,

Yes, it would sell. Check out that Groups.io for previous sales. I paid $1,400 for mine. Sort of embarassing 12 years later, lol. But that's progress. There are listeners who really, really like the Perseus. So you might check the usual sites for previously sold ones.
