Cheddar-up
« on: March 25, 2021, 12:19:03 PM »

Recently a radio club in the Philadelphia suburbs has tried to outsource dues collection and much record keeping to an on-line platform called Cheddar up. https://www.cheddarup.com  . The club treasurer was (to say the least) very keen on promoting this. It was like pulling teeth even to get a mailing address for dues payment by check. I hope it does not shock or scandalize any one to hear that I didn't want to give my financial and personal information to yet another internet black hole.

I wonder whether  other radio clubs have done such, and whether any of you have had dealings/experience with Cheddar up in particular.

After a quick perusal of their site, I would agree, and would prefer to either pay in person, or mail in a check to the treasurer.

Easy solution is if they don't pay their dues, they are dropped from the membership rolls.

A later follow-up reply. A former club used PayPal for a couple of years at my insistence as the web admin...it received a higher rate of renewal by a significant amount. However, my web admin successor didn't want to "fool with" the PP tool since he wanted to completely redesign the site and dropped it. Complaints from what became former members who loved the ease using their own PayPal account. But...that's the results of elections, I guess, lol.

Never heard of Cheddar up, but if your club wants to collect dues online, then just use PayPal or Zelle. They are the big and trusted players. Others are mostly unknown and club members will likely be scared of them.....

The simplest solution is always the best.
Why involve a third party like Cheddar up? I suppose they would get a cut of the proceeds beyond Paypal too?

But, it works.  One whey or another.  At least that's what I gather from skimming the topic.
