K1CRA - Bilal Isotron
« on: March 28, 2021, 03:40:56 AM »

Anyone have any visibility on K1CRA antenna company.  Links indicate that they are “taking a break, not working right now”.  Would like to order one of there antennas, but no way to do it.  Thanks in advance.  73, de N6XJP

For K1CRA:  Try their eBay store.
For Bilal:   Try the Isotron web site.

The OP might consider spending time awaiting availability of the Isotron into
doing a bit of research on the design.

The Isotron website provides a significant amount of [poor and unreliable] information
on how the antennas "work."

For example the stated description of an antenna's "capture area" is simply incorrect. An assertion is that the "resonant" circuit which is the part of the system that is not the feed line, "radiates." At another place in the promotional material it is asserted that resonance is not require for efficient
radiation from an antenna.

There's lots more there that might arouse the critical or scientific thinker.

And what is the problem with that notion?

Ludicrous!  All I asked is if they were still in business.  W6MK you’re an A$$.

That statement contradicts the other statement that resonance in the Isotron design underlies its ability to radiate.

Someone who doesn't toe to your line of expected discourse is an ass?

The forums are public. The discussions inform all the readers, not just the original posters.

I will enjoy hearing about your experience with your new antenna.

Bilal has been making the Isotron series of antennas for a long time.  If they are taking a break from production, for whatever reason, then I have a suggestion.

A very similar radiator can be made using a broom handle, a porcelain lamp socket, and a 100 watt incandescent bulb.  I will not look as futuristic as an Isotron, but will perform about the same.  You may use a tuner if you wish, but no balun is required.

I would suggest with an Isotron or its equivalent, that a common mode choke or balun at the feedpoint, by limiting feed line radiation, might provide insight into how such antennas actually "work."

Feedline radiation is the primary source of radiation in the Isotron, TakTenna etc.
Put an effective choke at the "antenna"and everything changes.

And this right here is what we call a "Bingo".

I've just been all over their web site and could not find any reference to them "taking a break"...etc.

My suggestion to forego any sort of choke/Balun, was so that he could get the full effect of how it would actually work with RF all over the shack.  In Fact, a light bulb is actually cleaner from a common mode standpoint.

Just as you have shed light on a common sense understanding of the Isotron.
