GAP Antennas
« on: April 01, 2021, 10:23:14 AM »

I've been trying to get hold of GAP Antennas all week, but the phone has been continuously busy.

Sent three emails inquiring about the 30m Monoband Antenna, but they have gone unanswered.

Anyone know their status?

Tom....I tried the same thing around the first of the year and couldn’t get a rise out of them.  I, as well, was looking for a Monogap for 30 meters...my favorite band.  I have had a 20 meter version for many years and it works very well (on 10 meters also).  Let me know if you hear from them.  73

Since they are located in Florida and this week is "Spring Break" for many school districts as well as colleges, I would not be surprised if they were vacationing on the beaches or avoiding large crowds of partying students for a few days.

Not likely (see post above, trying since January).  No voice mail, no response to emails, no announcement on their website.  I fear we've lost another company.

I have a GAP 20 Meter Mono and have called them a couple times in the past with questions. It seems like it may be a small family operation possibly operated from home. It sounded like there might be kids in the background on one of the calls. I did have to leave a message but they did call back. I believe I spoke with the owner. Just like many other businesses COVID may have had an impact on them.

How is the 20m Monobander performing?

The GAP Mono seems to perform fairly well. It has a low, flat SWR on 20 and low SWR on 10 also. I have been working DX with it on FT8, CW and even SSB in recent contests. With a tuner I also use it on 17 Meters with good results. It's not a Yagi but for a 16 ft. vertical with 3 counterpoise wires it seems to perform OK.

Just talked with Richard at GAP Antennas.  There supply chain is really stretched due to difficulty in getting aluminum tubing.  He stated if you order online, they could likely ship in about three weeks.
