Field Day 2021 - Class D stations and Club aggregate scores
« on: April 05, 2021, 06:15:22 PM »

http://www.arrl.org/news/arrl-to-extend-field-day-rule-waivers-from-2020-add-class-d-and-e-power-limit

Same rules for this year as last.  However, I'm no longer a member of the club I was last year. (No membership in ANY club due to covid).  I can't find anything in the rules REQUIRING membership in the club you want to attribute your score to.  Is it OK to credit my old club with the contacts I make this year or will this not be considered kosher??

Well, I don’t know if it’s Kosher, but you can certainly do it.  The whole point is to get on the air and have fun and see how many points you can make.  I’m sure there are plenty of clubs that invite any ham to come and operate at their field site.

Well, things seem to be opening up for Field Day in our area this year.
The local park district approved our permit application for the overnight stay.
So we're planning on going back to an in person Field Day this year, and I'm looking forward to it.

As for the class D and E situation, I don't think it matters what affiliation you claim for your score.
And I don't believe I saw anything in the rules about it either. You just need to know what name
they're submitting under, so you can use the same one. Spelling probably matters in this case.

Now with all that being said, doing Field Day from the backyard last year wasn't all that bad.
Not having to pack up everything, then load and unload the car a couple of times was kinda nice.
And being able to sleep in my own bed last year, was another nice bonus. But in my opinion, you
just can't beat the fellowship and camaraderie of an in-person operation as a group.

There is a new rule for 1D stations; max power of 100w.

The ARRL has general club rules for contests here, and the rules about club scores are here, but they only apply to the 9 contests listed. For Field Day, many of the club names are just made up for FD or even just for that year. When we do FD, whoever is leading the effort gets to name the group.

There is a new rule for 1D stations; max power of 100w.

From the link:

Class D stations may work all other Field Day stations, including other Class D stations, for points. This year, however, Class D and Class E stations will be limited to 150 W PEP output.

That seems fair. Puts the guys at home on a more equal footing with the ones out in the field.
