It's not what you know, but who you know.
« on: April 11, 2021, 12:43:03 PM »

I was very surprised by the recent laser focus and attentiveness of the Eham webmaster in not locking, but actually deleting two threads apparently at the request of the OP and/or  his partner!
The threads were on topic and nothing untoward was going on but  a lot of claims and a lot of questions.

Big donors? Threats? Buddies? What is going on?

I have to admit that one of mine was deleted, but it was a "tongue in cheek" statement at the time, and quite frankly, I'm glad it's gone. I was wishing I hadn't submitted it, shortly after I posted it.

The dame thing could have been done with the edit link.

Edit your post to just say nevermind.

I do find it utter BS that the two threads where deleted.

But, that's what happens when you use someone else's forum.  You acquiesce to their version of the world.

Legally, it wouldn't have harmed EHAM a bit to let the thread run its course.  Hell, a lot worse is allowed to happen on this site unchecked.

EU: No, just telling it like it is.
VXI: I didn't have a chance to edit it later when my conscience began bothering me.

why was the "Call search not working" thread locked? that's the puzzle of the year. And yet the "DX SPOTS is it broken?" thread is fixed with no posts to follow and it is not locked as well as every other thread that has dead-ended.  No rhyme or reason.

I do notice that a few of our no call trolls are among the missing. Thanks Mike and I hope it is permanent and they log on anew with their calls.....after sufficient silent time.

Spoken like a guy who has never been a moderator on a forum.  You should try it sometime and see why it's the very definition of the term "thankless job".

No, but I've been a club president, which is similar...

My beef is that he DELETED two threads apparently at the behest of two guys who got themselves in deep by making somewhat outrageous claims about their prototype.
HOWEVER, The exchanges weren't nearly as bad as some of the threads that only receive locks

If nothing else, the thread in question had high amusement value. The opening salvo was a Youtube with what we thought was the world's worst product pitch video.  We told him to do himself a favor and take it down. The thread continued to go off in the weeds about all aspects of the prototype. What was so bad?

I think the action was inconsistent with how things normally happen on Eham.
