Hospital Ops Plan Skeleton
« on: April 13, 2021, 08:04:19 PM »

I volunteered to build a liaison program between our ARES group and several local hospitals. I found a lot of information and some good info on getting started but I’d like to find a skeleton for an ops plan or one that That is complete that I could convert over for our use. I would be for a 2-4 facility hospital.

Thanks,

Hi Terry,
We are on the same boat but I may be ahead by a tad 1 nautical mile with what you are trying to develop. We have the Hospital Amateur Radio Team (HART) Net and we are a 5+ hospital group in the Sacramento Valley Region (California). I can share with you some documents that we have if you want. We can collaborate to connect also when your group is HF capable, Winlink Email, APRS, and Satellite comms ready.
Which hospitals do you have in your plan?

Hi Jojo,

UCHealth has 4 locations but has 2 800 MHz radio systems with backup power so they really don’t need us. The Emergency Manger has a dual band Kenwood radio and antenna in his office but he doesn’t have his license yet. The other hospital system I still have to visit may have the same system so this may be a moot point. Let me visit them first.

Contact the San Diego ARES group.  Their mission is to provide backup communications to the county hospital system in the event of an emergency.  That's over 30 different hospitals and clinics, including the San Diego Naval Hospital and the Navy Hospital Ship USNS Mercy. We have participated in a number of county-wide state-mandated hospital drills pre-covid.

The contact information can be found at: https://www.sdgares.net/about_us.php
