KX2T:

Glad you like your 101D, and have found your radio nirvana ;). Enjoy it! The K4D looks nice, but at $5,500? Dedicated Elecraft users will buy it.

Heck, there were people who bought the Icom 7851 at more than twice that price!

I just purchased a FTDX10. I like the radio. The CAT documentation is in another separate manual and is not very helpful in setting up the RS232 port. Had to find the info I needed on an dot.io group.
They must assume everybody will just do the plug and play USB cable.
It turned out that the settings for the port are in two different places with odd labels. Like everything else, it's simple once you know how.
All other operations have been fairly intuitive so far.

The receiver is very sensitive and quiet. Tons of filters and processing gadgets which i haven't fully explored yet.

I read some complain the menu is difficult to navigate, however pushing the function button brings up all menu items so I do not understand the complaints. Some complain the buttons around the tuning dial is difficult to access, but are over 1/2 inch away from the slow standard use tuning dial. I guess some Ham hands are like a baseball glove with fingers 1" in diameter. Most Hams have normal hands that the FTDX-10 button access is not an issue.

Just got a FTDX10 and could not be happier with it.  It just takes a while to get used to the ergonomics and all the functions.  The touch screen is great.  Instead of using my fingers I use a tablet stylus that works very well.

If you replaced the Yaesu nameplate with an Icom nameplate, many of those complaints would say it was the greatest radio ever.

I get a kick out of noodling with the FTdx10 technology. All of the various display options and filters  work extremely well. I can pick signals out of almost any kind of adverse condition. It's more fun than the FT450D.

I would still complain about the idiocy of cramming important buttons round the main tuning dial! That does not change the fact that the FTdx10 is a very good performer...

I placed the 101D into its first SSB DX contest and have to say I was even more impressed. The FTDX10 gave me a taste but this radio is a notch above when you running a pileup of EU station and you got got jokers to the left and clowns to the right 1.5Khz away, it delivers but I may have never bought the 101 if I had not tried the Ten. The Ten is that good and IMO a fantastic buy for a radio that delivers great competitive performance for a very affordable price!
