Never seen a doornail, but the bands seem dead as one...

You are not the only one that feels that way, I check solar ham and there is something coming around the corner, I also noticed a few times this week no spots on the image of the sun, just a big orange ball.

I've been knockin'em out of the park on 30 meters FT8 after 2300 - 0300hrs West Coast.....I mean, the other side of the World.

I'd rather do CW but no one home on that mode anymore, except during contests.

The bands are never dead with FT8.
Even 6-meters has been open daily.

Unfortunately you are 100% correct.............Here is a snip of what I can generate on FT8 but when I go to my favorite mode (CW) I can hear crickets chirp. Amateur radio hasn't been the same since FT8 came along.

Ya...  towards the end of 2020, I finally realized I was just logging the same call signs over and over again during the CW contests.  And in between contests, I wasn't hearing much of anything.  CW got me into ham radio.  So, I can't believe after 44 years, I quit CW at the beginning of this year.

Now I have over 3,000 call signs logged in FT8.  Something is always going on with FT8.  And it's 6 meter season now, too.
