Hi guys,

Just got my license and bought a TYT-9800. Great radio, I think really good to start my HAM radio learning.

What I cannot seem to get to work is listening to the Airband. I found out how to switch to AM mode but still I cannot enter airband frequenties like 108.000 etc.

Hope somebody can tell me step by step how to listen to the airband.

I would try to receive your local METAR/ATIS frequency.
You can also possible receive local approach frequency.
There are recourses available on the internet on aeronautical frequencies.

But I have the frequency for the airline. For example 118.750. I should be able to select this but I cannot choose this frequency. What am I doing wrong :-(

This frequency is outside the manufactured frequency range for the radio.

Here is what I found  about the radio: 26 - 33 MHz, 136 - 174 MHz, 400 - 480 MHz, 47 - 54 MHz

Thank you for your help. That is for TX.

It has a RX only for: 6-33MHZ/47-54MHz/108-180MHz/320-512MHz/and 750-950MHz.

Just can't get it to scan these frequency's....

It seems everything related to the Chinese radios is twice as complicated.  To "unlock" wide receive on a couple of my Yaesu radios is one simple menu change.
