KWD TH-D74a/Mirage BD-35 Advice?
« on: May 14, 2021, 04:47:37 PM »

I have a Kenwood TH-D74a HT and Mirage BD-35 Amp incoming. I would like to pull my Yaesu FTM-400XDR from my car and try the HT/Amp combination. Any advice on setup and use for dual use on APRS and 146.520 would be appreciated. Might just be temporary.

did you read the reviews?  https://www.eham.net/reviews/view-product?id=3281

one of the posts mentions an issue with passing 222.

Seems like they work, or don’t. While a lot of don’t work reviews pop up, I’m hoping the adage about negative reviews being 10-fold more likely. Fingers crossed.

Have used both the vhf and dual band mirage, as well as another discontinued vhf make. No problems at all, just plug-n-play. If you are buying new, just test it and return it if NG.
The UHF side will be slightly less power than the vhf, and you'll want to run your h/t on full voltage to get the best power into the booster.
