Need help in making audio interface for FT900
« on: May 31, 2021, 08:45:39 AM »

Hi all,

I'm trying to put together a HB digital interface for a FT900 and have hit an issue with the audio part. (I bought a USB cable for the CAT side and that works fine.)

I am trying to use the DVS-2 interface on the rear. It's intended for the digital voice recorder unit and has an audio in and an audio out connection. On receive, I am getting the audio out from this ok, but nothing is happening on transmit. From the circuit I can see two control lines CN1 and CN2 that control and analogue switch (Q1076) and I thought these might need to be used to enable these two
ports. But not had any luck; one of them switches the audio out on and off as expected, but the other has no effect on the transmit audio.

So am wondering if there is an additional mode setting required somewhere to make this work?

Anybody had expperience of using this DVS-2 connector?

Many thanks,
Ralph

You might be better off using the DATA IN/OUT and PTT jacks.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion.

I have now got it working..... turns out that it is necessary to set both the CN1 & the CN2 control inputs high together to enable the audio input on that connector.  So have cooked up an audio switch that does just that when transmitting a digital mode - and have left the CAT to handle the PTT (though this can also be done via the DVS-2 port actually).

Onwards and upwards....
