AO-91 for Field Day
« on: June 16, 2021, 03:05:54 PM »

It might be enticing ... But tell everyone you know NOT to attempt to
work AO-91 for Field day (or any other time) unless it is being illuminated
by the Sun!

Still looking for opinions if I would hear/work any stations from my QTH of the Northern Mariana islands, grid QK25 using AO-91 or any of the other "easy" FM satellites. Malaysia & Japan fall in these satellites footprints. I will buy the radio/antenna today but I don't want the gear to be a doorstop due to no English speaking activity on the FM birds in this part of the world............Anyone have an opinion regarding FM satellites using English in the western Pacific?

I'm not out there, but based on recordings posted online you should be able to get some activity on daytime AO-91 passes with English-speaking operators. You can use the satmatch.com web site to compare your grid with grids for other operators, and see when you would have common footprints. Click the "Show Extra Options", and you can specify a starting date/time and a longer range to search for those passes.

I put in grids for some locations like Darwin and Brisbane in Australia, along with a couple of JA operators. I saw some passes that could work for you. There is activity from the Philippines and Indonesia, and you should be able to work them in English.

Good luck, and 73!
