KX2 Messages

For some reason I’m having a strange problem uploading and playing my CW messages on my KX2. I read the instructions and I’m following them exactly. Here is what is happening.
I load up the following msg: CQ CQ CQ DE K2TPZ K2TPZ K. When I play it the following occurs:  CQ CQ CQ DE K2TPZ….(5 second delay)…K2TPZ K. Why does that happen? I’ve erased the message several times and tried again. Same result. I’ve had the KX2 for several years and have uploaded many messages. This had never happened before. Any idea why this is suddenly happening? Thanks in advance. Mike

Mike, have you tried the KX Users Group?  There is a lot of expertise in the group.

Did you find your answer?
I always load my CW messages via the Elecraft utility software. It's super easy to do. I have loaded a message or two via the paddles and at times make a little mistake sending. Start over......
No chance of error using the software.

This is what I found out and verified. The message/record key is very sensitive and the instructions of tap and hold for one second is very exacting. When you are recording your initial message you first HOLD the record button for 1/2 second(and they mean 1/2 second, not 1 second or a quarter of a second). Then hit the 1-3 place where you want the message stored(how long you tap that button is irrelevant). Add your message and when finished TAP the message button(tap, don’t linger on that button and make sure you tap less than 1/2 second). If you do all of the above, it works.

I am now an expert on adding messages on my KX2. If you want to erase a message make sure you follow the TAP and HOLD instructions exactly. If you do you won’t have any difficulties. Everything will work perfectly.

Thanks for reading. Keep safe and 73, Mike.
