After being able to post eHam images successfully using my personal webspace, I'm recently getting reports of images not appearing, despite the fact that I can see them in my own eHam site access using a variety of private and public devices. As a test, I'd be obliged if a remote viewer could tell me if they see the following image:

If not, can you see the picture when you click the direct link:

http://users.tpg.com.au/adslif89/ph/vk6hp/TX_top_initial_sm.jpg

Finally, can you see the picture when hosted on the Postimage site, below?

It shows normally for me in all cases but it'd be helpful to hear from other viewers.

Thanks, and 73,
Peter.

Thanks Charlie and James.  An odd one!  Interesting that Charlie and I see two images (apart from the direct link) but James is only seeing one.  You'd think if it was an eHam access issue, or a privileges issue at my end, no-one would see anything.  Perhaps just a few more reports will help.  May I ask what devices and browsers you're using?  I haven't been able to make it fail with any combination at my end.

Thanks again,
Peter.

Thanks Richard..much appreciated.  With Charlie's correction I can now see that it's an eHam problem accessing the TPG server.  Maybe they've recently declared it serva non grata for some reason and I'll take it up with the site administrators.  Thanks again to all the responders.

Peter,

Your personal website is not using HTTPS which is increasingly a browser requirement. eHam doesn't render the picture, it only passes the link that your browser then retrieves and optionally renders. By contrast, the Postimage links are HTTPS.

Thanks Glenn..that's a good thought, although I'm inclined to wonder if eHam is does some filtering of links, since it seemed to work until recently.  I guess the fact that it works for me via eHam kind of argues against that though, since I still apparently get the link and see the picture, probably because my browsers trust me :)   In the meantime I'll take a look at the server settings.

Just another thought, though: if it was a browser problem, would you guys still be seeing the pic via my direct link?

The direct link also depends on the browser. For example, Chrome will no longer readily allow access to PDF documents from an HTTP server. Much of this is nanny security so browsers have their own logic as to how and when to protect you from yourself.

To upgrade your server to HTTPS that browsers will readily accept, you will also need an SSL certificate issued by a PKI company that is within the Windows default chain of trust.

I seriously doubt you will get any help from eHam on this. People have been struggling with pictures for years and they won't even implement a free tool to help with the situation. Meanwhile we all still are enjoying the double slide bars and ridiculous 'responsive' rendering.

Here's an image from my personal website (not https). Is it working for all or only some?

Thanks Ron.  I also see your image on all my devices, including a PC with Win 10 and Firefox, and various iThings with iOS, Safari and Chrome.

All versions seen here on an ancient Dell Win7 Pro 64 bit PC with a I5 processor and Nvidia graphics as supplied originally.
