Greyline Performance Antenna
« on: July 01, 2021, 09:49:20 AM »

I ordered a 28' flagpole antenna, and it was delivered on June 4, 2021.  I attempted to assemble the pole and found one tube splice was oversized so it would not fit.  I found another tube splice and attaching hardware completely missing.  The top tube on the pole is 1 1/4" but the flag truck is for a 2" tube.  I then sent the splice that was wrong sized back to the company and never got any parts in return.  Keep in mind that they do not provide any assembly drawing or packing list with the shipment.

•   On June 7th, I was told the poles are fitted then disassembled for shipment.  This was false because of the wrong sized and missing parts.
•   On June 15th, I was told they had hired a new girl and she must have made a mistake.  Still no effort to send the correct parts.
•   On June 19th I sent the company a letter asking to be made whole within 10 days. Since there was no packing list or assembly drawing I included a hand drawn diagram of the assembly to show exactly what parts had issues or were missing.
•   On June 25th, I was told the parts should have been sent today but the owner didn't know if they were shipped. The owner further explained that he had shipped other poles instead of pulling parts to fix mine.
•   On June 30th, I was told the parts were shipped a day or two ago and it had taken time for custom parts to be made although I was unable to get a shipping date or tracking number.  These were not custom parts and I had no special order, I just wanted what should have been sent to me in the first place.  Since they said "the" part had been sent I again provide the list of missing and bad parts.
•   July 1, I still have not received any parts.

Same BS from that guy. He has less than favorable ratings with a lot of his customers. Some people just don't care who they screw or their reputation

They are one of the few ham related companies I would never do business with. Been reading their reviews for years and can do without all the free stress they provide once you send them your money.

If you have been conducting your transactions by mail, I suggest that you contact the Post Office with an eye towards filing a claim for mail fraud. Sometimes you have to brandish a big stick to get the attention of a jackass.

The business is simply an assumed name so the owner, Jon Kimball (K2LA), can be sued personally and there are a few different ways to get my money back thru a judgement or from VISA.  Suits can be brought in Idaho where he operates or in Washington where the antenna was delivered. I am not too worried at this point.

It just seems very self destructive and unnecessary to go down the road that Kimball is going. On one hand, I don't understand the dishonesty. Before the purchase I sent an email asking a couple of questions and he promptly gave me a personal phone call, on a weekend mind you, to answer my questions.  Once he got my money the quality of care simply turned to lip service. On the other hand, my first wife would sooner lie than tell the truth, so I have that experience and my experience as a civil/criminal investigator with 26 years of experience to eventually get satisfaction. The Federal Gov't loves to take up a multiple interstate commerce fraud case that gets a headline.

If anyone wants to contact me please lookup KF7OCA on the FCC database to get my address and send me a note with your email and I will respond.

I also tried posting some of my issues in the Reviews For: Greyline Performance DXF Flagpole Verticals section so other people could see it but someone took it off the forum.

I have no dog in this fight and have been reading about your problems with this (ahem) person for sometime now here and on the 'brand Q' forum board. Does your post actually make it or could it be an operator error issue with the board? Someone on here said the 'inner-workings' are slightly antiquated and there might be a step that you are missing when you attempt to post. I'm not accusing only musing.

I tried posting some info in the review section but seems it got taken down by admin.  I would beg admin to do something because people are still losing money and buying simply because of eham's form. You won't find many good words on qrz.com

His reviews are great on eham, for some reason.  Maybe the antenna actually works ok if you actually receive one, or one with all of the pieces.

My advice to people that have lost money is to help bring down the Greyline website.

Greyline uses a marketing web platform called Enom. They accept complaints for fraudulent use of the platform so the website can be taken down. If anyone wants to file a complaint here is the website.
