:(I always give companies the benefit of the doubt, this time I am past that point.
I ordered the FT920 roofing filter kit and wider SSB filter.
Living in South Africa I have supported this company through the years, and they do make great products, however our exchange rate makes it a rather costly investment!.
Anyhow, roofing filter arrived in one piece, and went in like a treat.
The IF filter arrived on an piggyback adapter board with ALL components on the board loose and tracks disconnected, this showed itself later.
The pads on the PCB had pulled away from the tiny tracks, which I only really noticed after stripping the rig, and the first installation attempt failed as rig was dead.
Ribbons have to be disconnected and board flipped over for soldering, a seat sucker of a job trying not to damage anything in the process.
So, unsoldered the 4 pins again, found intermittent tracks, soldered in wires from each pad, installed again, this time one of the PCB pins pulled out.
Tried again, failed again, this was with proper soldering station , lighting , tools etc.
Many Pictures and emails of the problem , NO reply from the guys at Inrad.
In desperation I then ETCHED my own piggyback board, installed my own components, and PCB pins.. Radio has been working ever since. 8)
Just and email communication to acknowledge the problem would have been nice.
I love the products, but that piggyback board was a disappointment.
Regards,
William
