Yes, "drive by" and "one and done" posters are a PITA. Especially when you actually spend some time to help them find an answer, and you don't even know if they ever came by and read the fruits of your work.

A certain active poster started a big rant and many chimed in with their opinions, some agreeing with the OP and some not, and the OP NEVER EVER replied back in his own thread. Either to defend his original rant or to modify it or ANYTHING. It is the equivalent of driving by with submachine gun and spraying the area, never to return. I would suppose he "got off" by stirring up a big old pot of "stuff" and laughed all the way home. That is all I can figure.

Especially a PITA for you James, as you're one of the few that consistently bends over backwards with detailed explanations/advice to help people. Even offer to spend time on the phone with them. As I said, a lack of common courtesy all too prevalent these days.

I'm guessing it's a bologna-like meat product found only in the budget section of the supermarket's deli department...  (don't read the ingredients  before you taste it).

Seems like a lot of whining over nothing. Advise is always free...but the reliability can get expensive.

Yes, even the reliability of the spelling must be taken into consideration.

Not "whining", Stan. Just commenting on a behavior that happens all too often on these forums. Possibly some of the "one and done" posters will read this and think about being a little more courteous to some of the folks that try to help them.

Any decent software has a spell checker built in BUT the user has to be able to read how to turn it on....there is the problem :o

But does that software know the difference between Your and You're, There and Their, Sight and Site, etc? The spell check on this forum doesn't. I see a lot of misspelling here, and I'm sure I make some errors with spelling and grammar. An English teacher could give many of us some red marks. Wouldn't want to call someone out for spelling, and misspeel myself while doing it.

Yes, "drive by" and "one and done" posters are a PITA. Especially when you actually spend some time to help them find an answer, and you don't even know if they ever came by and read the fruits of your work.

I agree that anyone who asks for help and gets earnest and helpful replies, should at least have the courtesy to thank those who took the time to help. And I agree that you have gone out of your way to help people on this forum.

This is where we differ. I don't believe that anyone who starts a post is obligated to reply to their own post or feel compelled to. That's with the exception of asking for help, as stated above. I don't know which post you're referring to, I'm basing this reply on what you said. Maybe or maybe not, the original poster intended for the post to turn into a pi$$ing contest. Trolls are better left ignored, but we can see how that goes on here. I'm guilty of this myself, but those who join in the fray of those discussions are just as much a part of it as the original poster.
