What is the thinking behind posting a question to a forum when the answer is easily found by using your search engine?  Sure if you have gone the search engine route and still have not found the answer by all means try a forum.   God helps those who help themselves.

That has to be my #1 complaint on these forums followed by the IMO very pertinent and proper RTFM comment.
Im all for using a whip or 2x4 on some people.....metaphorically speaking....otherwise they will remain clueless and never learn.

BUT I had good Christian Brothers teachers at no nonsense Bishop Loughlin Catholic HS in Brooklyn NY. Later USN schools and instructors were not afraid to speak out in terms not permitted on here. OTOH the USN tech schools were well known as the best in the military and those going into civilian life were #1 on recruiters and hiring manager lists.  Me included, I basically walked into National Radio and was hired on the spot in 1963 ;D

I have even seen interesting threads from 1 or 2 years in the past and inquired as to the eventual outcome and ... ziltch.

(Of course, one must consider the SK possibilities.) :(

Yeah but...its more likely the OP was a hit and run to get an answer and never looked back. Courtesy isnt taught in union run teachers schools.

I've had my share of bruised knuckles in school classes for things not just involving Courtesy.  :'( ::) ;D Want to guess what kind of school I suffered through until High School when I quickly entered the Public school system? Come to think of it, I'll probably be seeing those teachers "upstairs" one of these days! Ooh-ooh! ;D

Sadly we are living in a different time where the "D" word is rarely spoken.  DISCIPLINE when not found in the home or the schools deprives young folks of one of the essential elements of a successful life.  I was blessed to be able to retire from full time employment shortly after my 52nd birthday.  I give much credit to the Dominican Nuns who in addition to the "three R's" were very much into discipline.  Sure there were times when erasers and chalk were flying from the front of the room aimed at a student miscreant and it all contributed to character building and the big "D".

Charlie,
Know what you mean!  My brothers and I were fearful of my Mum's wooden spoon.  We got stung by that a couple of times.  Just the mere threat of it when we were out of line got us back in line very quickly. Any school discipline problems were quickly relayed to parents back then and parents dealt with it in the manner they thought best.  suffice it to say  there were very little discipline problems in school in my day.  And if anyone got out of line in the neighborhood and another parent was privy to it all bets were off then too.

It is about time you noticed my comment. I was beginning to think you did a Rumpelstiltskin on me.

BTW, to this Zero you are my HERO. I hope I can be a Legend in my own mind too someday!

....when someone posts a question on a forum, asking for help or advice and never replies again after many folks answer and try to help? We take the time to read his query, and if we think we can help solve a problem or offer advice, we then take the time and effort to respond. Many days later, not even a "thanks for your input", or even a "you're full of baloney". I'd think it's just common courtesy to at least acknowledge that you read the responses, and not make us feel like we wasted our time.

I always make a point to reply to anyone who has answered my numerous questions.  I figure if they can take the time to read my post and type a response I can at least acknowledge their efforts.
