Again, excellent feedback.

I have my heart set on a Yeasu FT-991A but I not understanding why everyone is out of stock with anticipated delivery in late September.  🤔

A combination of COVID-19 problems and a big fire at a major chip manufacturing facility resulting in product production delays across all things electronic in nature.

No parts to build them.
BTW DXE will meet any legit price from the others. USUALLY.
I'm in Ohio so DXE is here in 1 day. I do like HRO as well.

AES is no more, hasn’t been for 5 years.  It is HRO now.

I have been using HRO for years both the Atlanta and Salem stores; if your store is out of stock they will see which of thier stores has the radio you want!  Very helpful and very prompt shipping.

When I go back to Philadelphia for a visit, I always enjoy going to the Heathkit store on Roosevelt Blvd ;D.

I'm from NE Philly. Was that Heathkit store at Haldeman (sp) and the blvd? Or was it just off Cottman? I may be thinking of the Lafayette store.  I left Philly in '78.

Rick,

You know, it was so long ago, I don't remember exactly where, but I don't think it was at Cottman. I don't know how old you are, but way back then the ham radio stores were RESCO Electronics and other "radio row" stores in downtown Philly, and suburban stores AG Radio, Hamtronics, and HamBuerger (yes, the owners' name was Howard Buerger ;D). I got my license in 1959 at age 13...K3JIV. I grew up in the West Oak Lane/Mt.Airy section, and had many friends in NE Philly. Good memories!

DXE will price match any advertised price.  Their tech support is outstanding.

I'll shop the different vendors and then get the best available price from DXE.  It's possible they would decline to match but so far it's never happened to me.  Great company.

All of my stuff comes from AES in Milwaukee. I think I will give AES a call right now & place an order. I hope they throw one of their magazines in with the order. If AES doesn't have what I'm looking for I will call one of the stores along "radio row" in NYC.

                                                     Tom KH0/KC0W

I also buy from Lafayette and Harrison Radio, except for kits I go straight to Heathkit, Eico and Knightkit.   Good service from all of them very recently.

I eventually went with Gigaparts although my preference was DXE. Gigaparts finally had the radio I wanted in stock. I received the radio, control unit stand and power supply but the stand had busted during transport. The replacement was on its way within 2 days.

Gigaparts and DXE have similar prices and DXE's website is more user-friendly. But so far, Gigaparts gas been good to work with. 👍

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback.

Either are first class. I prefer DX Engineering as they seem more knowledgeable. But, if I can save say $20 I go with Gigaparts.
