Dale, every restoration you do is absolutely gorgeous, you are a true perfectionist, not a Virgo by any chance! 73 Geoff

Another great restoration, Dale.
Appreciate the insight of inkjet versus laser decals.
I have always used Laser (black), so if I desire Color - good info.

Hi Greg,
Thank you for the kind words. Yes, they are original. I did  buff them out on  my lathe and polished the inserts. I don't know that all DuoBanders used them, but I have seen them on others. You know well how parts changed w/o notice in the early rigs.

This was my rig in 1967 as WA0LJV. Restoration looks like my new rig back then. Great job!

Great job and amazing pics, Dale! Thanks!

It seems to me that the "84" was direct competition for the Heathkit HW-12/22 single-banders. The Heathkits cost less but were single-band, and you had to build them, while the WRL covered 2 bands and arrived fully wired and tested.  Surprising that it wasn't more popular.

Beautiful work Dale!  It's a pleasure to see the work of a perfectionist.

I used a WRL Globe King 400B back in '56.  Broadcast quality audio. Ole Leo turned out some fine gear.

Thanks Al,
It  is a fun radio. I too am surprised there are not more out there. Especially given Leo's generous time payment plans. I'll bet that drove his accountant nuts!

I have some recent restorations to get on my site when time permits. The Morrow CM-1 and the  Morrow 5BR-2 5 bnd mobile converter, Gonset Triband and Super 6 converters, another SX-117, a (now) gorgeous Lafayette HA-410 and a few more. Just need time.
