Problem cured! xfinity did a remote reset on the cable box…now every transmission with the amp has zero effect on the TV picture…I figured something got Scrooged after the storms knocked out the electricity and the power company was messing firing things back up….it’s good to have the amp power back on!

Thats amazing, a reset of the cable box fixing the RFI issue. I had not heard of that before, but a least I sent you in the right direction to look at the cable box.

Not sure if it was so much the RFI issue as it was the Cable Box needing reset after the storm surge....next time it happens, we'll know what to do.....I'm surprised that it could be done remotely....makes you wonder what else it is they can do remotely.... ::)....things that make you go "hmmmmm"....

Well as you have seen they can reset it, they can also change your channel line up and permissions. They can also shut your box down completely.  In many of those system the commands they send are on HF frequency's over the cable.

If you have Internet and wifi on the same system they can change your download speeds to what ever they want. Slow you way down or speed you up.

G5RV…no where near the cable line

Common mode choke/balun at junction of parallel line and coax?

Yes….and I made a discovery….this new found interference with the tv does not happen while running barefoot….only with my 400w AL-84 amp transmitting…..game changer?…

Obviously, Vince, the issue ultimately is the amp.  You need to get rid of it.

Not to worry, I’ll make sure it gets a good home.  You can bring it with you to the Butler hamfest on Sunday... or to Flynn’s Tires in Kirwan Heights...   ::)
