Hot Spot Dashboard Anomaly...
« on: August 28, 2021, 08:30:41 AM »

Why are my call letters sometimes showing up on the hot spot's dashboard log when another station is transmitting?

I have an MMDVM hot spot hat on a Pi-Zero, and the hot spot is set to DMR to YSF.  I've noticed this occurring on the dashboard of the hot spot when using either of my handhelds, an Anytone UV878 and a Retevis RT84.

I notice this occurs only sometimes when some USA stations transmit, not all.  Stations transmitting from foreign locations seem to display properly on the hot spot dashboard log at all times.   It's only an issue when some US stations transmit.

When I check the screen of my radio's display, and this anomaly occurs, my DMR ID number displays when other stations are transmitting.

Can anyone advise why this may be occurring, and how to resolve the issue?

I'm going on a limb here and wondering if it's related to a user not having a DMR ID. If you're in Fusion crossmode land; you'll likely encounter some people that don't have a DMR ID. If your hotspot is transmitting DMR but getting it's data from the YSF side, it might get confused when it can't cross a callsign to a DMR ID; so it uses yours.

You might want to ask on the Pi-Star forums directly about this. The devs there might have a better idea.

That sounds like a pretty good theory to me...I've tried to register on the Pi-star forum, and I can't get past entering the confirmation code in order to register with the forum...it's a mess!
