Charlie:

I vote for the Brother P-Touch as well.  You can buy several widths and color tape and the machine provides several fonts; with or without borders.  It is so versatile that it actually becomes fun to use.

When I got my first one I went nuts after labeling all if my operating desk cables. I put small labels on all the house receptacle/switch plates with the breaker number that feeds them!

The P-Touch label tape backing is easy to remove.

The only downside is that the P-Touch wastes a lot of expensive tape....like your inkjet printer wastes ink.

Now that I'm home....

The wife uses this,

Nice, but expensive. I still use the work printer and some Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping tape for labels.

Clear P-touch labels with black or white lettering work nice for labeling controls and switches on homebrew projects.

Brother P-Touch it is, then!! Thanks, all.
Charlie
I just remembered a  Brother P-Touch I purchased a while back and used on a plastic parts bin. I checked it for loose stickers and found every one still secure. I guess I've answered my own question. LOL
Thanks for all the replies!!
