Eham.net slow response time
« on: September 22, 2021, 04:48:40 AM »

Not sure if its just me, but it seems that eham.net has a very slow response time. When clicking any link, it takes a substantial amount of time for the site to load. Also happens when loading the main site url. No other sites are acting like this, so I have ruled out issues with my 100Meg connection. Anyone else have this? Average lag is about 4-5 seconds.

Seems fine here (4 hours later from the posting).   People will be replying to this question for years.      I would say you need a better antenna.  hi hi.

Currently, I am not receiving any slow down and haven't for a very long time. My internet is through our cable provider (2G and 5G). Although, during stormy weather, it gets a little crazy.

At my previous QTH (Ash Fork, AZ - South of the Grand Canyon), I would get slow downs from time to time. But that was mostly due to my internet connection, not Eham. Then, I only had a DSL connection and that was routed 50 miles west to Flagstaff and then 150 miles south to the Phoenix main hub.

Every so often we would have an outage for a few days. We had some "goobers" in our area that thought they would get rich by digging up the cable that ran from Flagstaff to Phoenix. They would sneak out to the desert and dig it up. But when they cut into it, they found out it was fiber optic cable, not copper.

I posted this issue several months ago.  Problem still exists.  Any Eham page takes up to several seconds to load but not a single other website I go to does this.

Are you using Google DSN server by any chance?

It isn't a DNS (domain name server) problem (if that is what was meant by DSN). eHam regularly has problems with their service provider having internal routing problems. This was documented in the past and corrected. It looks like they have taken their eye off the ball again.
