Yaesu FTM-400 Microphone
« on: October 09, 2021, 02:46:43 PM »

Is anyone using a mike other than the stock Yaesu MH-48 with the FTM-400?

While I don't use it with my FTM-400XDR, a headset and foot switch can be adapted to the radio with a minimum of fuss.  I have a setup for my FTM-100 in my shack and it's compatible with the 400 as well.

If you wish to use a headset in a mobile application, then a single-sided headphone on the headset is suggested. Some states have prohibitions against covering both ears while driving a vehicle.

Thanks, but looking for recommendations for hand mikes.

Heil Sound makes the HMM hand microphone that fits the hand very nicely.  I have one for my iCom HF rig. It could probably be adapted to the FTM-400 with one of their adapters.  The only problem is that you would lose all the button functionality that comes with the stock Yaesu microphone. The HMM is a microphone (with a PTT button) only.
