I know I can find Kenwood MC60 pin outs, and Yaesu FT991a mic schematics, but does anyone have a set of instructions to match these two?  I'd rather not pay $30 to buy a cable, when I have half of the setup in my junk box.

Thanks

This is not rocket science.

•   Your microphone audio output is a shielded cable. The shield goes to ground on the Yaesu mic plug.

•   The center wire on the shielded microphone cable goes to audio input on the Yaesu microphone plug.

•   The PTT wire goes to the PTT pin on the Yaesu plug.

•   Look on line for the Yaesu microphone pin outs.

Here are the pin outs on the Yaesu mic plug.

YAESU FT840-FT2200-FT990, FT991.
8 PIN CONNECTOR.
PIN4 (external speaker some models)(black)

PIN6 PTT (red)

PIN7 GRND (green)

PIN8 MIC (yellow)

This took less  than a minuet. If you are going to advance in this hobby you will need to work harder.

And we have a winner! A new world record for winning the EHam jerk award in a minuet.

AER: At age 87, there are no more "work harder" moments left, but plenty of "nap time" moments to live through.  ;D ;D

I wired the MC60 into a Kenwood phone patch, and then into a Yaesu FTM400.  There were actually two grounds, and I initially chose the wrong one.  That necessitated cutting into heat shrink tubing, and rewiring.  I thought it would save aggravation by asking here, rather than reading pin outs, and trying to figure out which pin on the RJ45 is 1 and which one is 8.

It still amazes me that in the time it would take for someone to just answer the question, they'd rather make a snarky comment.  Considering, I passed my extra back in the days where I had to sit for the 20 WPM code exam, the size of my ham radio phallus is more than enough to tolerate the snark.

I passed my novice at the age of ten in 1959 and got my Extra 3 years later. We had no internet then. We read books. I just don't see the effort being made in ham radio. Everyone depends on Elmers to do the work on the internet web blogs.

If that gives me the jerk of the year award, so be it. This web site has lost much of its talent due to lazy hams who don't want to educate themselves on the hobby. After awhile you don't see new hams making any effort.

Question of the week. How many hams who have had a license less then 3 years own a ARRL Handbook. I'll bet less than 20 percent.

I do Yaesu fusion.  I started out with an FT70, and figured out how to connect to my node,
