Old Microwave Bolometers
« on: October 15, 2021, 03:01:04 PM »

I have four of these old type 628 microwave bolometers. They are not of any use to me. They're quite heavy. I think they are silver plated, but I can't tell what the underlying metal is, could be pretty much anything except aluminum. Does anyone know anything about how these are made up, if they happen to have a lot of silver they might be worth something in melt value. There always seem to be a few for sale on eBay for $40 or so, but I don't think they ever sell. Any information or interest is appreciated.

I don't seem to be able to attach pictures right now, but here is a link to the same item someone else is selling on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162454799952

I have seen those things before and always wondered what they were. Now I know.
