« on: October 23, 2021, 08:04:32 AM »

March of this year Prolog shut down, website and all. I would like to get a copy of the Prolog 2k on thumb drive usb. My new computer doesnt have cd rom. Ive used it for 15 years, but ive tried to move it to win 10 and it says files are missing. Trying to go from win 7 to 10  tia   john

that is a different Prolog. This Prolog 2 K was used by Hams for years. They shut down the website and I guess any kind of support. Its a shame

Prolog was also a programming language and is still in use. However, I have not found anything on the Prolog 2K used by hams. I even checked the Wayback Machine, but came up with nothing. It looks like you may be out of luck, unless someone else has a copy. Don't you have a copy on your current PC? What about on a backup?

The latest trend in PCs, especially for laptops, is to not include a CD Rom drive. My laptop is like that. I was annoyed at first, but realized that the CD doesn't really get used that often. If you have ever had to open up a laptop for repair, you would know what a pain the internal CD Rom drives were. I have an external CD Rom Drive that is USB connected and I can move it around to any computer. For me, that's more convenient.

How old is this "new computer"? Is that the 15 year old computer you mentioned? What files are missing? You might try putting W10 on a USB drive and installing it that way. A computer that old may not have CPUs that are fast enough or memory big enough. If it doesn't, W10 would be a real dog.

Of course, an alternative is to put some flavor of Linux on it.

It is fairly high-end logging software, isn't it? It does appear to be gone now - take a look at Log4OM - I think you'll find that that covers all the functionality and then some...

thanks for the help. I thought maybe someone would have an old disk. I have changed to a new log program. It is different from my old one, but I am getting use to it. If anyone reads this, Id still like to have an Prolog 2K disk.  thanks   w3BJ

Its a shame these people went out o business. This logging program was the nicest one I had. It handled LOTW like a dream. couple clicks. done. I use N3FJP but doesnt do LOTW very good. Nothing last forwever
