Analog wireless headphones suitable for CW
« on: October 26, 2021, 04:27:02 AM »

I'm looking for recommendations for over the ear wireless heaphones without the latency introduced by Bluetooth technology. Would like noise cancelling as well. My friend Google has presented me with a bewildering range of choices, mostly employing Bluetooth.

Not sure of the best way to do it, but, some people have used a low power FM transmitter, and then connect the headphones to a FM receiver. There are other ways just can't remember where I saw them.  You might want to try posting to a large contest website, or even the contest forum here.  Good luck.

I use my metal detector wireless headphones. Garrett MS-3 Z-Lynk. They cover the ears and seem to work well with no larency. There is a separate small xmtr that you connect to the radio (included if you buy the wireless 'kit'). Downside is the xmit uses a 1/4" plug - so you usually need an adapter to 1/8". And the kit is not cheap - I think about $150. Dennis

I use Sennheiser 900MHz headphones for TV sound and listening to AM radio. I'm sure they would be fine for CW

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I'm leaning toward Sennheiser or Sony, reading specs and reviews. Looks like the "wireless RF" headphones are now using 2.4 GHz. Trying to determine potential interference with other wireless devices in the shack.

The Sennheiser (or EPOS) headsets have good noise cancellation also on the mic and can also be connected via a USB cable if needed.
