Yaesu FT-897 & Icom IC-706mkiig Question
« on: October 26, 2021, 05:52:49 PM »

There are two antenna connectors on the back of each of these transceivers. Are they selected automatically depending on which band you are on or do you have to select one or the other antenna port in a menu? My Kenwood TS-570SG has two antenna ports also, but I have to select one or the other. I can't find anything in the Yaesu or Icom manuals about a menu setting for that. It hasn't been a problem until now because I'm only now adding antennas for 144 and 432 MHz. Thanks for any input on this question.

HF thru 6m on one and 2m/440 MHz on the other.

On the 706 m2g, the bottom one is vhf/uhf and the top on is hf. They are not switchable. I have owned 3 of them. Do not know about the 897.

Looks like both of these rigs switch automatically to the proper antenna port when the band is changed from HF to VHF/UHF. That's what I wanted to confirm. Thanks to those of you who replied.
