The QRZ chart is worthless in my estimation. I used VOACAP online for planning and roll with the solar punches.

Yep I just turn the radio on and listen or call cq and I'm usually rewarded with some 10 meter DX every day.

I did this Sunday and caught a Taiwanese station on 10 meter CW along with Dale N7ET/DU7 in the Phillipines also on 10 cw both at 599 + signals and several Vk's and ZL's on 10 SSB and also D4 in Cape Verde on 10 CW and a few African ZS's on 10 SSB.

On 10 SSB VK9DX Norfolk Island, VP6MW Pitcairn Island and another dozen or more VK's and ZL's have been very active on weekends along with 2 or 3  ZS's in South Africa very active on 10 meter CW and SSB in the mornings before my work so for me there is no need to even look at 15 meters or lower these days.

Back in feb of this year using my Motorola, MT1000 10 meter FM handheld I talked to ZL2Ok in New Zealand on 29.6 FM with the 11 inch rubber duck and 6 watts.

Also don't get stuck on 29.6 FM as both 29.30 and 29.28 MHz FM have been active towards Japan and Asia with several Japanese stations worked and HL2IKT in Korea worked twice but now getting into April these openings will drop off real fast  until we get in sparodic  E and SSSP season with multiple E hops to Japan  and Asia which usually occurs from May to late July.

Looking back at my logs for 10 meter FM QSO's over the past 20 years it shows activity to Japan and Asia being Nil after April 15th but on the plus side I have been hearing a group of US hams in W5 and W6 land who have been using FM on 12 meters.

And of course my 10 meter prediction is off for things ending to asia around mid April in that I am still hearing HL's on 29.280FM and Ja's on 29.300 FM this past weekend along with the typical VK's and ZL's on 10 SSB/cw nightly and  Asia still in on 10FM.

Getting back to the original thread about 15 meters; This past Wednesday on the UTC morning from May 10th to the 11th there was a very nice 15 meter night time opening on CW and Digi to the Persian Gulf with A61 UAE, A71 Qatar, 5B4 Cyprus, TA Turkey, 9K2 Kuwait, and to the west in Asia with HS3 Thailand and several JA and UA stations worked.

Most of the Persian Gulf stations were new countries and they  were also countries that are pretty rare in the Pacific Northwest above 14 MHz.
