Kenwood TH-215A
« on: November 09, 2021, 11:01:45 AM »

My Kenwood TH-215A had been in storage for 2 years. After applying power, everything powered up and buttons functioned properly, however there's no sound from the speaker. It's not in tone squelch and there is also no sound using the external speaker connection. Any suggestions?

Go to the NOAA frequency and see if there is anything.

Also put your ear to the radio when you just turn the knob on to hear if there is a click etc.

What about your antenna connections?

Too odd for all 3 to go deaf. It's something simple

I have three of them (I think that is the right model), and they have
all succumbed to the same issue over the years.  I assume that
there is an internal battery for the CPU, or something like that,
that goes bad over time.

That means it probably is a simple fix, once you open up the
radio with a schematic in hand, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

On my 225A it was C37 and C38.
