FT5DE details vs UV8DR (yeasu look a like)
« on: November 21, 2021, 05:20:11 AM »

I have bought this week the new Yeasu FT5D, state of the art handheld with a lot of functions.
Also i have the Yeasu look a like UV8DR.
(MML, Zastone).
Thera are many correspondings between the two handhelds thinking about:
The very long time to charge
The batterypack
The Charger
The extreme heat by transmitting
What I like to know, is it made in the same factory? And what make the the extreme price difference, off course we are talking about to complete difference handhelds but on the other hand.......maybe in the future we can buy this for a little price.....

I bought one of those just for fun, mine is a veasu, kind of a funny play on words, but its just the typical chinese ht. I think it will transmit anywhere. But I found my unit to have an inherent problem, it will turn on by itself and has a small drain on the battery thats been reported.
I also have tried to find the turn on function on the programming  using a computer but I never was able to correct it, the drain or the on problem.
Its nothing like the original radio its copied from, I wonder why they even bothered to make a fake.

This is like comparing apples and oranges.  There is no real similarity between the Yaesu FT5D and a Zastone UV8DR.  in addition to being a dual band 2m/70cm radio, the FT5D is capable of Yaesu System Fusion Digital and the corresponding WIRES-X internet linking. It also has built-in GPS and APRS.

The Zastone is just another Chinese radio...
