Pi-Star network Passwords
« on: November 23, 2021, 09:07:43 AM »

I have a real beef with the Pi-Star network. If you for some reason forget your password and you have a problem logging in. The system will not allow you to configure or make any changes.
And there is no option where you can click something that says Forgot Password allowing you to validate your presence and get a new password.
They are so behind times, it's not even funny.

Let's keep in mind that there is no such thing as "Pi-Star network".

Pi-Star is a stand-alone software package, including the OS, that runs on the Raspberry Pi.
And just like pretty much any computer OS, if you forgot your login credentials there's no way simply bypass or reset the password.
So in that regard Pi-Star is no different from other operating systems.

In other words, Pi-Star is not a "user account" or a network login that could be reset by the Admin.
You are the "Admin" for that computer, and if you forgot your password you're just SOL.

The password is local to your Raspberry Pi, nothing to do with any “network”, unless you are referring to the DMR password on Brandmeister… which you can re-assign from the Brandmeister web site.
