Com Connector

I have a TS-890 with a TS-590 as sub receiver. I also have an Acom 1200 that uses same Com connector as TS-590.I'm trying to feed the 590 and Acom 1200 with the same DB-9 com port on the back of the TS-890. I tried a DB9 cable splitter but the Acom 1200 gets Cat Error, TS590 worked as sub receiver with no issues. Any help appreciated.

Not familiar with Acom 1200, but might it require a 'null modem' vs a straight thru cable?
